i recently became reaquainted with vince gallo, indie film maker and musician. a music opinion of his was posted on facebook by fan death records partner sean gray to spur discussion. i disagreed with gallo's assertion, and became engaged, but found an even more appalling statement by ol' vince that i had to investigate further to make as sure as i could that he was serious. all indications point toward seriousness, even if vince has a way of self grandinizing ( he refers to "buffalo 66" as "my classic" ) and provacation. he stated that the greatest evils of the twentieth century were "pot and socialism." so beware, vince is a shaggy, hipster boho duded looking guy, very charming and entertaining but obviously a hater of the human race. a proponent of an alchohol fueled, unhinged capitalist machine that needs a death toll through wars for stabilization every decade, and has used the threat of imaginary weapons of mass destruction, socialism, and before that communism to propagate itself. he's a proponent of the evironmental devastation perpetuated by a total disregard of the ecosystem in the name of profits at all costs. the other half of his equation is equally inane and unfounded. one is hard pressed to name a single death attributable to marijuana, unless it's been at the hand of the governments war of it's prohibition - perpetuated and escalated each time republican's have held the presidency, making "outlaws" out of 100 of millions of otherwise law abiding citizens. the legalization of a herb with benign toxicity and many "healing" powers compared to alchohol and it's huge death toll, would have helped an economy and lifestyle anytime in the 20th century. not saying, socialist and communistic governments have not destroyed millions of lives. but they have been dictatorial regimes in countries with long vast histories of dictatorial regimes. the capitalistic country that vince and i both love has also destroyed millions of lives in an assortment of ways. those other countries have not been pure communistic or socialistic governments, just like the united states is not a pure democratic run country. it is a capitalistic bought and sold country, and sadly too pure. as it has shown over and over again, it needs to be reigned in by democracy, because it reins death and misery upon it's people and environment when left to its freedoms. so sadly with all the talent and artistic vision of vince gallo, he's myopic in his world and social view. beware, he's a self professed hippie hating republican - blow me, asshole |
